When shopping for Viagra or even considering if we should take it for the very first time, many of us come across different strengths of Viagra – namely, 25mg, 50mg and 100mg. If you decided to try Viagra all by yourself without corresponding advice from your doctor, you definitely want to know what the difference between these three is. If you have already received your RX, you probably know what strength of Viagra your doctor has prescribed to you – but you are probably still interested in the difference, aren’t you? Well, this article is exactly what you need – read on and have your questions answered!
This is the third and highest of the three strengths that brand-name Viagra is available in. While these days you can find generic Viagra in doses of 40mg and even 200mg of Sildenafil per tablet, the 25mg, 50mg and 100mg strengths still remain the ‘golden standards’ for Sildenafil.
A tablet of 100mg Viagra doesn’t have to weigh exactly 100mg or be larger in size than 25mg or 50mg pills. The number only denotes the amount of active ingredient, Sildenafil Citrate, per tablet.
Most doctors specializing in men’s health have the same point of view when talking about the recommended dosage of Viagra. When starting the treatment, you should try Viagra 50mg – unless you are suffering from any health conditions that would make increasing/decreasing the starting dose necessary. If it doesn’t work on two first occasions, switch to 100mg tablets. If it does work, then try taking 25mg pills, maybe they will be perfectly sufficient for you. You are not advised to start right off with 100mg tablets. There’s a direct relationship between the dose of Sildenafil and the likelihood of suffering from its side effects. Thus, when taking 100mg pills, you run higher risks – something you are not really interested in, are you?
However, there are certain health conditions that your doctor might take into consideration when deciding, which strength of Viagra to prescribe to you. If you have any of those, then you might have to take 100mg tablets right from the start. Therefore, the rule here is simple – take the 100mg pills if lower strengths of Viagra didn’t work for you or if that was what your doctor told you. Otherwise, start with a lower dose.
While many men report taking Viagra along with other ED meds to ensure better effect, we feel we have to let you know that it is a practice that has never been recommended or approved by ANY doctor. In fact, this is a very risky thing that increases the probability of experiencing side effects greatly.
While it’s not a great idea to mix any amount of Viagra with other similar meds, doing that with Viagra 100mg is the least thing you should consider doing. While taking, say, 25mg of Sildenafil along with 5mg of Tadalafil (Cialis) is still likely to give you the desired effect without any major health risks, experimenting with 100mg Sildenafil tablets is far not as safe as that. Remember, you are not even allowed to take more than 100mg of Sildenafil alone in 24 hours – why complement it with more similar substances and run greater risks?
Frankly, no. As we have already pointed out above, the higher the dose of Sildenafil you are consuming with your Viagra pill, the higher the risk of experiencing side effects is. However, even with 100mg tablets, you are not really likely to experience any of those. You might suffer from mild side effects, such as dyspepsia, flushing or headache – but more severe and really dangerous ones are not likely. Unless you are overdosing, of course.
There’s one very simple rule that you should remember ahead of the rest – don’t take more than one 100mg pill in 24 hours. Besides, you should avoid taking Viagra along with other ED meds or with nitrate drugs used to treat chest pain (angina). Moreover, you should avoid eating grapefruit or drinking grapefruit juice when on Viagra because it might make the concentration of Sildenafil in your system rise beyond safe levels.
You ‘ve got that mark on a one side of the pill and a mark «Pfizer» on the other? Then you deal with a high quality drug!
